The Black Panthers were founded in October 1966 in Oakland, California. Huey Newton was the main founder of the party but Bobby Seale was a big help, the party was created for self defense. The panther party followed the practices of Malcolm X. The original black panthers were Huey Newton, Bobby Seale, Elbert Howard, Sherman Forte, Reggie Forte, and Bobby Hutton. A 10 point program was created by the panthers to state what they were all about and what they wanted and needed. It seems to be that the Panthers have a bad rep but they did do a series of good things, the bad things just out weigh the good. The panthers were very straight forward and direct with all of their actions which made them very intimidating.
